“Is Your Family Ready to Meet Jesus?
Thirsty Thursday Blog: Are You Rapture Ready?
5 Minute Read
📖 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” Matthew 24:42 NIV
Recently, I had a dream that deeply affected me. I want to share it with you because it reminded me of two questions we all need to consider.
Are we ready for the return of Jesus Christ? And are we praying for the salvation of the people we love?
🕊️ MY DREAM: WHERE IS MY FAMILY?
“I was sitting at my dining room table, looking out the window, when I saw an enormous Archangel looking directly at me.
Suddenly, I began to rise up through my house into the air. As I ascended, I watched the town below grow smaller and smaller.
Then I cried out to Regis, whom I thought and felt was was behind me.
“Regis! I don’t see the kids!”
I began calling out their names, and our grandchildren’s names getting more distressed as I called out their names!
When I reached a certain name, I began descending back to earth, returning to my house and my dining room chair looking out the window toward where the Archangel stood.”
Then I woke up.
I cannot tell you exactly what this dream meant. But I can tell you what I felt. I was in great distress because I wanted my family with me in the Rapture, and I could not see them. They didn’t hear my voice calling them.
I felt helpless and in shock!
The Rapture of the Church was taking place and I didn’t see any of our family being changed in a twinkling of an eye as scriptures indicate it will be.
This dream brought two responsibilities into sharp focus for me: making certain that I am always ready when the Archangel blows the Trumpet and I faithfully praying for those I love to be Rapture Ready.
📖 PART ONE: ARE YOU RAPTURE READY?
The Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ will return. First Thessalonians 4:16–17 describes the Lord descending from heaven, the dead in Christ rising first, and believers who remain being caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord.
What a glorious promise!
But the question is not simply whether we believe Jesus is coming. The question is whether we are ready for Him.
🔥 1. Have You Received Jesus Christ as Your Savior?
John 3:16 declares that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
Salvation is not earned by good works, religious activity, church attendance, or family heritage. It is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9–13 teaches us to believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead and to call upon the name of the Lord.
Have you personally placed your faith in Jesus?
🔥 2. Are You Living in Expectation of His Return?
Titus 2:11–13 teaches us to live godly lives as we wait for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Being ready does not mean living in fear or constantly trying to calculate dates. It means living every day with our hearts surrendered to Jesus.
Are you forgiving others? Are you walking in obedience to God’s Word? Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to transform your character? Are you sharing the Good News with those who need to hear it?
We do not know the day or hour of His coming. We are called to be ready.
🔥 3. Are You Watching and Praying?
In Matthew 24:42–44, Jesus tells His followers to keep watch and be ready because the Son of Man will come at an hour they do not expect.
First Corinthians 15:51–52 reveals that believers will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
What a wonderful hope we have in Christ!
We must not allow the distractions of everyday life to make us spiritually indifferent. Our hope is not in the condition of this world. Our hope is in Jesus Christ.
🙏 PART TWO: HOW DO WE PRAY FOR OUR LOVED ONES?
My dream brought my family to the forefront of my heart. I wanted them with me.
Perhaps you have a son or daughter who has walked away from God. Maybe a grandchild has never personally received Jesus. Perhaps someone you love is caught in destructive habits, unbelief, bitterness, or spiritual confusion.
What can we do?
We cannot make another person choose Jesus. We cannot save anyone through our own efforts. Only Jesus saves. But we can pray, love, live as examples of His grace, and faithfully share the truth.
Here are five biblical ways to pray for those we love.
🙏 1. Pray for Their Eyes to Be Opened to the Truth.
Second Corinthians 4:4 describes the minds of unbelievers being blinded so they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ.
Pray that God will remove spiritual blindness, expose deception, and help your loved ones recognize their need for a Savior.
Pray that they will encounter the truth of God’s Word and understand His love for them.
🙏 2. Pray for the Holy Spirit to Draw Them to Jesus.
In John 6:44, Jesus explains that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws that person.
Ask the Father to draw your loved ones to Jesus. Pray that the Holy Spirit will convict them of sin, reveal the truth, and awaken their hearts to the gift of salvation.
Do not give up praying simply because you have not yet seen a change.
🙏 3. Pray for Divine Opportunities to Share the Gospel
Colossians 4:3–4 encourages believers to pray for opportunities to proclaim the message of Christ clearly.
Ask God to open doors for meaningful conversations. Pray for wisdom to know when to speak, when to listen, and how to communicate His love without condemnation.
Sometimes the most powerful testimony is a life that consistently demonstrates the love, patience, grace, and mercy of Jesus.
Let your words and actions point people toward Him.
🙏 4. Pray for Their Hearts to Become Good Soil.
In Matthew 13:1–23, Jesus teaches the parable of the sower. The seed represents the Word of God, and the different soils illustrate different responses to it.
Pray that the hearts of your loved ones will become receptive to God’s Word. Ask Him to help them overcome distractions, worldly pressures, fear, and the cares of this life so that His truth can take root and bear fruit.
Pray for enduring faith, not merely a moment of emotional response.
🙏 5. Pray With Hope, Patience, and Unconditional Love.
Second Peter 3:9 reminds us that the Lord is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wanting everyone to come to repentance.
God’s patience should encourage us to pray with hope. We must also remember that every person has a choice, and we cannot predict another person’s response to God.
Do not let disappointment turn your heart bitter. Continue loving your family. Keep the door open for honest conversations. Speak the truth with gentleness and respect.
First Timothy 2:1–4 urges believers to offer prayers and intercession for all people and reveals God’s desire for people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep believing that God can reach people in ways you cannot.
❤️ MOVE FROM FEAR TO FAITH!
📖 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
When we think about the eternal destiny of the people we love, our hearts can become overwhelmed. We want our families to know Jesus. We want them to be ready for His return. But God has not called us to live in torment, anxiety, or fear.
He has called us to pray in faith!
🔥 Fear makes us worry. Love moves us to pray. Faith reminds us that God is at work.
We cannot make decisions for our loved ones, but we can intercede for them, share the Gospel, demonstrate the love of Jesus, and trust the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts.
God has given us His power to be witnesses, His love to reach people with compassion, and a sound mind to respond with wisdom rather than panic.
So when a loved one’s name comes to your heart, do not allow distress to overwhelm you.
Let that name become a reminder to pray!
🙏 Pray with persistence. Love without giving up. Share the Good News with boldness. Trust God with what you cannot control.
Our responsibility is to be ready ourselves and faithfully point others to Jesus. Their response is their decision, but our prayers and our witness matter.
Don’t let fear about who might be missing keep you from doing what love can do today.
There is still an opportunity to pray, to reach out, to forgive, to share the Gospel, and to tell someone what Jesus has done for you.
❤️ Be Rapture Ready. Pray for your loved ones. Walk in love, power, and a sound mind!
🙏 A PRAYER FOR OUR FAMILIES
Heavenly Father,
In the precious name of Jesus, I bring my family before You.
Thank You for loving each one more than I ever could. You know every heart, every struggle, every question, and every need.
Father, draw my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all my loved ones to Jesus. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel.
Remove deception, soften hardened hearts, and give them a hunger for Your Word.
Holy Spirit, convict them of sin and reveal the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Open doors for conversations that will lead them closer to You. Give me wisdom to speak with love, patience, and boldness.
Help me live a life that reflects Your presence. May my words and actions demonstrate the reality of Your love.
Lord, I cannot choose for my loved ones, but I can faithfully pray for them. Help me never to grow weary in intercession. Give me opportunities to share the Good News while there is still time.
I pray that my family will come to know You personally, grow in faith, and be ready for the return of Jesus Christ.
I place each one in Your hands, trusting Your wisdom, Your mercy, and Your perfect love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
✝️ HAVE YOU RECEIVED JESUS? A PRAYER OF SALVATION
Perhaps you have been attending church for years, or perhaps you have never personally surrendered your life to Jesus Christ. Whatever your background, you can come to Him today.
Salvation is not about repeating perfect words. It is about placing your faith in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and turning to Him as your Savior and Lord.
If you are ready to put your faith in Jesus, you can pray sincerely from your heart:
Heavenly Father,
I come to You in the name of Jesus. I recognize that I have sinned and need Your forgiveness.
I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead.
Jesus, I turn away from my sin and put my faith in You. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and become the Lord of my life.
I surrender my heart, my plans, and my future to You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live according to Your Word.
Thank You for Your mercy, Your grace, and the gift of eternal life. Teach me to follow You, grow in faith, and share Your love with others.
I receive You as my Savior and Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer sincerely, begin growing in your relationship with Jesus. Read the Bible, pray daily, find a Bible believing church, and connect with other believers who can encourage you in your faith.
Remember, our confidence rests in Jesus Christ and His finished work, not in the perfection of our words.
🔥 THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION
Are YOU and YOUR family RAPTURE READY? If so you can confidently say:
📖 “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” Revelation 22:20 KJV
Yes! That is the missing piece that brings your testimony into focus. ❤️🔥
There is still time to pray, but faith does not stop with prayer. Faith acts. Faith works by love.
Ask God to put His love for this community into your hearts so deeply that you recognize opportunities to reach people, walk through open doors, and share the Gospel in practical ways.
Galatians 5:6 says:
“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.”Galatians 5:6, KJV
And James 2:17 reminds us that faith without works is dead.
🔥 THERE IS STILL TIME, BUT FAITH ACTS!
I don’t want to spend the time God has given me simply watching the sky and waiting for Jesus to return. I want to use every moment to pray for the lost, listen for the Holy Spirit’s direction, recognize open doors, and walk through them.
Be diligent. Be passionate. Ask God to place His love for the people of your local community in your heart; not merely a general love for a city, but a genuine love for the people who live there.
It’s the people we pass in the grocery store, the neighbors we have yet to meet, the families who are hurting, and those who may appear to have everything together while quietly searching for hope.
Lord, help us see this community through Your eyes. Help us hear the cries others may overlook. Give us courage to begin conversations, compassion to meet needs, wisdom to recognize open doors, and boldness to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We have been given time. Let us redeem it.
We have been given faith. Let it work through love.
We have been given the Gospel. Let us carry it beyond our walls and into the lives of people who need to know You.
Lord, give us Your heart for our communities!
You can trust us to do the “God” thing!
