ARE YOU THE HERO NOBODY ASKED FOR?

4 to 5 minute read 🔥

📖 “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.” 1 Peter 4:15 NKJV

Have you ever seen someone with a problem and immediately thought, “I need to fix this!” Maybe nobody asked you. Maybe they did not ask for your advice. Maybe they did not ask you to get involved.

But something inside you says, “Somebody has to do something!”

And suddenly…

đź‘‘ YOU BECOME THE HERO.

But who is the hero nobody asked for?

The hero nobody asked for is the person who sees someone else’s problem, steps into their situation without being asked or assigned by God, and decides they need to fix it.

Sometimes that involvement happens openly. But sometimes it happens behind the scenes and in secret.

🔎 Meddling behind the scenes means secretly getting involved in someone else’s affairs, without their knowledge or permission, in an attempt to influence what happens.

And when that involvement is being done for self serving reasons, the heart of the matter becomes even more serious.

A person may want to feel needed. They may want recognition. They may want influence.

They may want control over the outcome. They may want to look like the one who knows what is really happening. They may want to become the person everyone depends upon.

And sometimes they may not even recognize that motive in themselves.

They may honestly say: “I am only trying to help.”

But the Holy Spirit may gently ask:

❓ “ARE YOU SERVING THEM, OR ARE YOU SERVING SOMETHING IN YOU?”

That is not a question of condemnation.

It is a question of the heart.

❤️ There is a difference between helping and meddling.

There is a difference between loving someone and taking control of their situation.

There is a difference between giving biblical counsel when someone asks and secretly working behind the scenes because we think we know what is best.

Suppose someone you love is going through a difficult situation.

You can say, “I am here if you need me.” You can pray. You can love them. You can wait.

And if they come to you and say, “Can you help me? What does God’s Word say about this?”

Then open the Bible with them.

Pray together.

Search the Scriptures together.

Help them discover God’s answer.

You are not becoming their answer.

You are helping them discover His answer.

🔥 That is the difference.

Meddling says, “Let me take over.”

Biblical helping says, “Let’s see what God’s Word says.”

Meddling says, “I know exactly what you should do.”

Biblical helping says, “Let’s pray and ask God for wisdom.”

Meddling makes us the center of the solution.

Biblical helping points people back to Jesus.

📖 Paul wrote, “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.”

2 Corinthians 4:5 NKJV

We do not preach ourselves.

We point to Christ.

đź‘‘ We do not need to become the hero.

Jesus is the Hero.

Sometimes meddling begins with something that looks very much like compassion.

We see someone’s pain and want to rescue them.

We hear a problem and immediately have an opinion.

We hear one side of a story and think we understand the whole story.

We believe we know what they meant.

We believe we know what happened behind the scenes.

We believe we know what everyone should do.

But concern can quietly become control.

Compassion can become interference.

Helping can become self importance.

And sometimes the person doing the meddling does not even realize it.

That is why we need the Holy Spirit to search our hearts.

đź’§ Good intentions do not automatically mean God gave us the assignment.

We need to ask:

Did God ask me to?

Did they ask me for help?

Am I helping them discover God’s answer, or am I trying to become their answer?

Am I serving them, or am I serving something in me?

Those are heart questions.

And God is gracious enough to show us the truth.

📖 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Psalm 51:10 NKJV

That is a prayer we can all pray.

Not just for the busybody.

For all of us.

Because every one of us has moments when we want to fix something we were never assigned to fix.

Every one of us has moments when we think we know what someone else should do.

Every one of us needs the Holy Spirit to teach us when to speak, when to pray, when to help, and when to wait.

✨ The greatest gift we can give someone is not always our solution.

Sometimes it is helping them discover the answer from the Word of God.

And that leads us to another question…

🚪 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PRIVATE INFORMATION BECOMES OUR OPPORTUNITY TO GET INVOLVED?

Because meddling does not always begin with action.

Sometimes it begins with something someone told us.

And sometimes it happens quietly, behind the scenes.

“I probably shouldn’t tell you, but…”

“You didn’t hear this from me…”

“I know what is really happening…”

And suddenly a private matter becomes public conversation.

🔥 That is where we will go next.

đź’§ THIRSTY THURSDAY HEART CHECK

Before stepping into someone else’s situation, pause.

Ask God.

Ask whether they asked you.

Ask whether you have actually been assigned.

And ask the deepest question:

“Lord, am I helping because You sent me, or am I getting involved because I need to be needed?”

❤️ Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is not take over.

Sometimes love says, “I am here.” “I will pray.” “If you want biblical counsel, let’s open God’s Word together.”

And sometimes love simply says,

“I trust God with you.”

💧🔥 Come thirsty. Leave refreshed.

THIRSTY THURSDAY BLOG 2 - September 17, 2026

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH WHAT YOU KNOW? GOSSIPING?

4 to 5 minute read 🔥

Part 1 Blog we asked:

đź‘‘ ARE YOU THE HERO NOBODY ASKED FOR?

We discovered that meddling can happen openly, but it can also happen behind the scenes and in secret. Sometimes someone quietly gets involved in another person’s situation, trying to influence what happens without that person’s knowledge.

And sometimes the hidden motive is self serving. The person may want control.

Recognition. Influence. Information.

Or simply the satisfaction of being the person who knows what is really happening.

But there is another doorway into meddling that we need to examine.

🚪 What happens when someone gives us private information?

What do we do with what we know?

Sometimes meddling begins with a sentence that sounds harmless:

“I probably shouldn’t tell you, but…”

Or…

“You didn’t hear this from me…”

Or…

“Let me tell you what is really happening…”

And suddenly a private matter becomes public conversation.

The person who is not in the room becomes the person everyone is discussing.

Their actions are examined.

Their motives are guessed.

Their words are repeated.

And before long, the back room becomes a courtroom.

⚖️ The absent person is put on trial without ever being given an opportunity to speak.

Proverbs gives us a very different picture.

📖 “A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

Proverbs 11:13 NKJV

A faithful person understands that knowing something does not automatically give us permission to repeat it. Sometimes faithfulness means knowing something…

…and keeping it between you, God, and the person who trusted you.

🔥 THE WORD DEMANDS AN AUDIENCE IN OUR LIVES, NOT THE GOSSIP.

What if our first response to private information was not another conversation?

What if it was prayer?

Instead of saying, “Did you hear what happened?”

We say,

“Let’s pray.”

Instead of saying, “I know what their problem is.”

We say,

“Let’s see what God’s Word says.”

Instead of carrying the story…

We carry the person before the throne of God.

🙏 The back room can become the prayer room.

Whispered conversation can become intercession.

Speculation can become Scripture.

Gossip can become grace.

And our need to know everything can become a willingness to trust God with what we do not know.

🚪 THE SUBMARINE WITH A SCREEN DOOR

Imagine a submarine.

A submarine has a purpose.

It has an assignment.

It has a destination.

It is designed to protect what is inside.

Now imagine someone puts a screen door on the back of that submarine.

🌊 What happens?

Water comes in.

And things that are supposed to remain inside can flow out.

The submarine is still a submarine.

Its purpose has not changed.

Its assignment has not changed.

But the wrong door is creating the problem.

That is what can happen when we fail to protect private information.

Someone trusted us with something.

It was meant to stay private.

But we open the wrong door.

The secret gets out.

Then another person knows.

Then another.

Soon something that was private has become public.

đź’§ What am I doing with what I know?

Is this my story to tell?

Do I have permission to share it?

Will repeating it bring healing?

Or will it bring shame, division, suspicion, or confusion?

And perhaps we should ask another question:

🔎 WHY DO I WANT TO TELL IT?

Am I telling it because someone genuinely needs to know?

Or does telling it make me feel important?

Does it give me influence?

Does it make me the person with inside information?

Does it make me feel needed?

Does it give me an opportunity to control what happens next?

❤️ That is where a heart check becomes necessary.

Sometimes the most powerful words we can say are:

“That is not my story to tell.”

“I will pray about that.”

“I will not repeat it.”

There is an important distinction here.

Protecting someone’s confidence does not mean remaining silent when someone is in danger.

If something is deadly, illegal, or threatening someone’s safety, responsible action may require telling the appropriate authorities or people equipped to help.

That is not gossip.

That is protection.

But even then, we do not need to add speculation, exaggeration, or shame.

We tell the truth to the people who need to know.

Then we allow God to deal with what belongs to Him.

âš“ The submarine does not need to become a different submarine.

It needs the wrong door removed.

And sometimes we do not need another conversation.

We need to close a door.

đź‘€ WHAT ABOUT OUR OWN THOUGHTS?

We can hear one piece of information and our minds begin filling in the blanks.

We think we know what someone meant.

We think we know why they acted.

We think we know what happened behind the scenes.

But sometimes we are not dealing with facts.

We are dealing with interpretation.

Our emotions can become evidence.

Our imagination can become information.

Our suspicion can begin to feel like discernment.

That is why Scripture tells us to bring our thoughts into obedience to Christ.

📖 “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

Not every thought deserves a microphone.

Not every feeling deserves a platform.

Not every suspicion deserves to become a conversation.

Not every burden belongs to us.

❤️ Before we repeat something, let’s bring it to God.

Before we judge someone’s motives, let’s bring it to God.

Before we step into their situation, let’s bring it to God.

Before we open our mouth…

Let’s ask:

“Lord, is this mine?”

đź’§ THIRSTY THURSDAY HEART CHECK

What information am I carrying?

What information am I repeating?

What private matters have been entrusted to me?

Am I protecting people with what I know?

Or am I using information to gain influence?

Am I carrying secrets into the prayer room?

Or carrying them into the conversation room?

And perhaps the most important question:

Is Jesus being glorified by what comes out of my mouth?

📖 “O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.”

Psalm 51:15 NKJV

Lord, let my mouth bring praise instead of gossip.

Grace instead of suspicion.

Truth instead of speculation.

Prayer instead of accusation.

And when I know something that is not mine to share…

Give me the grace to close the door.

🚪 Because not every open door is an invitation to walk through it.

Next week we go underneath the behavior itself.

Because sometimes the hardest question is not:

“Why did I meddle?”

It is:

❤️ “WHY DID I NEED TO?”

💧🔥 Come thirsty. Leave refreshed

THIRSTY THURSDAY BLOG 3 - revised

DO I NEED TO BE NEEDED? AM I ADDICTED TO DRAMA?

4 to 5 minute read 🔥

For the past Two Blogs, we have been looking at meddling, gossiping, and acting as a busybody.

đź‘‘ ARE YOU THE HERO NOBODY ASKED FOR?

🚪 WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH WHAT YOU KNOW?

Now we come to the deepest question.

❤️ DO I NEED TO BE NEEDED?

Sometimes the person who meddles is not trying to hurt anyone.

They genuinely care.

They really want to help.

They may be compassionate, generous, protective, and willing to do what nobody else will do.

But somewhere underneath all of that can be another hunger.

I want to be needed.

I want to be the person everyone calls.

I want to have the answer.

I want to be recognized as the one who understands.

I want to be the rescuer.

I want to be the fixer.

I want to be important in everyone’s story.

And sometimes that desire can cause us to work quietly behind the scenes, influencing situations that God never assigned us to influence.

We may even convince ourselves that we are simply helping.

But the Holy Spirit can ask a deeper question:

🔎 “WHO AM I REALLY SERVING?”

Am I serving the person?

Am I serving God?

Or am I serving something in me?

📖 “For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.”

Galatians 6:3 NKJV

That Scripture is not meant to condemn us.

It is meant to protect us.

Because we can sincerely believe our motives are completely pure and still have something in our hearts that God wants to reveal.

That is why David prayed:

📖 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties.”

Psalm 139:23 NKJV

Lord, search me.

Show me where compassion became control.

Show me where concern became interference.

Show me where helping became self importance.

Show me where I wanted recognition.

Show me where I wanted influence.

Show me where I wanted to be needed.

Show me where I stepped into something You never assigned to me.

💧 God does not want us to need someone’s crisis in order to feel valuable.

Our value does not come from being needed.

Our value comes from belonging to Him.

Our identity does not come from being everyone’s answer.

Our identity comes from being His child and His servant.

đź‘‘ GOD IS THE HERO

God is our Provider.

God is our Shepherd.

God is our Healer.

God is our Helper.

God is our Defender.

God is our Wisdom.

God is our Refuge.

God is our Strength.

God is our Deliverer.

We are not someone’s Savior.

Jesus is.

We are not someone’s Holy Spirit.

He is.

We are not the answer to every problem.

God is sufficient.

This does not mean we should become uncaring.

It frees us to love without control.

We can help without taking over.

We can give without demanding influence.

We can pray without needing recognition.

We can speak when God says speak.

We can remain silent when God says wait.

🔥 We can love someone deeply and still trust God with their life.

đź“– WHEN SOMEONE ASKS FOR HELP

What do we do when someone actually comes to us?

We do not abandon them.

We do not say, “That is none of my business.”

We listen.

We pray.

We open the Word.

We help them discover what God says.

We can ask questions.

We can encourage them.

We can walk beside them.

But we do not take the place that belongs to God.

❤️ We do not become their answer.

We help them discover His answer.

That is biblical helping.

That is compassion without control.

That is service without self importance.

That is love that points beyond itself.

🕊️ THE HIGHLY DEVELOPED SOUL

God created our soul.

Our thoughts.

Our emotions.

Our desires.

Our imagination.

Our memories.

Our will.

Our soul is a wonderful gift from God.

But when our soul begins operating independently of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, we can create an entire world inside our own thoughts.

We can begin thinking we know what everyone meant.

Why they acted.

What they are planning.

Who is guilty.

Who is manipulating whom.

What everyone should do.

And sometimes we are no longer responding to what actually happened.

We are responding to the story our soul created around what happened.

That is why we need God’s Word to govern our thoughts.

Not every burden belongs to us.

đź’§ We can bring every thought to God before we turn it into action.

🙏 THE PSALM 51 HEART CHECK

David prayed:

📖 “Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness.”

Psalm 51:1 NKJV

Lord, have mercy upon me.

Cleanse my heart.

Cleanse my motives.

Remove my need to control.

Remove my need to be recognized.

Remove my need to be needed.

Remove my desire to know everything.

Remove my desire to become the answer.

📖 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Psalm 51:10 NKJV

Lord, teach me when to speak.

Teach me when to pray.

Teach me when to help.

Teach me when to open Your Word.

Teach me when to wait.

Teach me when to protect someone’s confidence.

Teach me when to close the door.

📖 “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”

Psalm 51:12 NKJV

Lord, restore my joy.

I want Your Presence more than I want to be needed.

I want Your voice more than I want my own voice.

I want Your wisdom more than I want an answer.

I want Your assignment more than I want approval.

I want Jesus to receive the glory.

❤️ THE FINAL HEART CHECK

So what do we do when someone has a problem?

We do not ignore them.

We do not abandon them.

We do not stop loving them.

We simply learn to ask God what love looks like.

If He says go, we go.

If He says speak, we speak.

If He says help, we help.

If He says pray, we pray.

If someone asks us for biblical counsel, we open the Word.

If He says wait, we wait.

And if God has not assigned us to carry something…

We trust Him enough to let it go.

❤️ Love does not have to control in order to care.

Love does not have to know everything.

Love does not have to be needed.

Love does not have to be the hero.

Love trusts God.

And perhaps that is the freedom God wants to give us.

We do not have to fix everyone.

We do not have to know everything.

We do not have to carry every burden.

We do not have to be the person with every answer.

We simply need to be faithful.

đź‘‘ The Hero is Jesus.

And our greatest privilege is not being the hero in somebody else’s story.

It is being faithful in His story.

📖 “O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.”

Psalm 51:15 NKJV

Lord, let my mouth bring praise instead of gossip.

Grace instead of suspicion.

Prayer instead of accusation.

Truth instead of speculation.

Let my private conversations become prayer.

Let my knowledge become intercession.

Let my influence become service.

Let my life point people to Jesus.

And Lord…

I do not want to be the hero nobody asked for.

I want to be the servant You can trust.

🔥 THIRSTY THURSDAY HEART CHECK

Before you step into someone else’s situation this week, pause.

Ask:

Did God ask me to?

Did they ask me for help?

What does God’s Word say?

Am I helping them discover His answer?

Or am I trying to become their answer?

Am I serving them, or am I serving something in me?

And finally…

❤️ CAN I LOVE THEM ENOUGH TO TRUST GOD WITH THEM?

That may be one of the greatest expressions of love we can ever give.

đź‘‘ Jesus is the Hero. We are simply called to be faithful.

💧🔥 Come thirsty. Leave refreshed.
